Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced that Admiral William Fallon, head of the military U.S. Central Command which controls operations in the Middle East, would be resigning. Secretary Gates said that Admiral Fallon had asked him for permission to retire and that he had agreed. He responded to reporters' questions, some of which were about a recent controversial article about Admiral Fallon in Esquire magazine. close
