Rep. James McGovern talked about U.S. House action yesterday to delay consideration of the U.S.-Colombia free trade agreement and what it means for U.S.-Colombia trade overall. He said he opposed the agreement because of Colombian human rights issues. He responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.

President Bush sent the free-trade pact to Congress this week, but on Thursday the House amended its rules to delay consideration of the agreement. The House suspended provisions that require acting on fast-track trade pacts within 60 days of their introduction close
