Ronald Walters talked about his book The Price of Racial Reconciliation (University of Michigan Press; January 22, 2008). He argues that until there is a substantial discussion about restitution for African Americans there will remain a racial divide in the United States. Among the topics he spoke about were Senator Barack Obama and the issue of race in the 2008 presidential race. He responded to questions from members of the audience.

Ronald Walters is the director of the African American Leadership Program and government and politics professor at the University of Maryland. He is the author of several books, including Pan Africanism in the African Diaspora: An Analysis of Modern Afrocentric Political Movements.

This lecture, “Examining the Price of Racial Reconciliation,” was sponsored by the African American Studies Department in Symons Hall. close
