U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab talked about the president’s effort to gain congressional approval of a free trade agreement with Colombia. She focused on a vote in the House of Representatives of Thursday, April 10, 2008, that delayed consideration of the trade deal, the process of trade negotiation, economic advantages of free trade, and the use of trade policy in political maneuvering. She also spoke about the administration’s goals for free trade deals with South Korea and Panama. After she left, the reporters discussed her responses with the host. close
