Representative John Mica talked about the House debate on a $14.4 billion Amtrak reauthorization bill this week and responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.

The House Rules Committee Monday met to formulate a rule on the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008 (HR 6003), a bill that will reauthorize Amtrak for the first time in 11 years. It includes a requirement for the Department of Transportation to take proposals from the private sector to finance, construct and operate high-speed rail for two-hour service between Washington and New York City. close
