The House is expected to debate energy bills this week in response to gas prices and concern about price gouging and manipulation of energy markets. Representative Bob Etheridge talked about his bill, The Increasing Transparency and Accountability in Oil Prices Act, that the Agriculture Committee is considering Tuesday, and responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.

Representative Etheridge’s bill aims to keep manipulation and excessive speculation out of energy markets. It would give the Commodity Futures Trading Commission more authority over U.S. energy commodities traded on overseas markets and require transparency from traders. close
