Barbara Slavin talked about recent decisions by Britain and the European Union to freeze the overseas assets of Iran’s largest commercial bank as part of an effort to put pressure on Iran over its nuclear program. She also talked about her thoughts on the new sanctions, as well as themes addressed in a new report “Mullahs, Money and Militias: How Iran Exerts Its Influence in the Middle East,” which addresses how Iran’s power has grown in places such as Iraq, Lebanon, and Palestine over the last five years. Ms. Slavin responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. close
