Green Is the New Red, White and Blue
This was the conference keynote address at BookExpo America.
Thomas Friedman talked about his forthcoming book Hot, Flat, and Crowded: Why We Need a Green Revolution--and How It Can Renew America (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, September 8, 2008). It was based on an article, “Green Is the New Red, White and Blue.” He identified the convergence of global climate change, the rise of a middle class in India and China, and population growth as the most important trend in the world. He read selections from his book and identified areas where changes need to be made in order for the country to retain its position in the world and to maintain the ecology of the world.
