Paula Giddings talked about her book Ida: A Sword Among Lions, Ida B. Wells and the Campaign Against Lynching, published by Amistad. Ida B. Wells (1862-1931), born to slaves in Mississippi, became a leading activist. Professor Giddings talked about the details of lynching and about Ida Wells' investigation into the social background of lynching. Other topics included her life story and her career of activism. After a discussion with Eric Arnesen, Professor Giddings responded to questions from members of the audience. close
