Gov. Bill Clinton held a news conference in Little Rock, AK to announce the creation of an exploratory committee to investigate a possible run for the presidency in 1992. Although he did not state whether he would or would not run, Gov. Clinton said he would make his decision by the end of September 1991. Gov. Clinton also announced his resignation as chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council, a conservative Democratic organization promoting a moderate view of the Democratic party. If Gov. Clinton announced his intention to run for the presidency, he would join former Sen. Tsongas as official candidates for the Democratic nomination for the presidency in 1992. close
