The regular daily brief on Space Shuttle Discovery mission STS-124 included concerns about an object seen floating away from the shuttle that morning and an unusual protrusion on the tail rudder of the spacecraft. The floating object was a clip used to secure thermal insulation in the ship’s rudder/speed brake to protect against heating during ascent and does not pose a problem for re-entry. The protrusion was only a normal object seen from a different angle. close
