In this fictionalized account of D-Day, The Steel Wave: A Novel of World War II, published by Ballantine, historical novelist Jeff Shaara profiled the American and German militaries and depicted the higher ranking officers and the G.I.'s who participated in the battle. Mr. Shaara talked about the book at the Bookworm Store in Omaha, Nebraska, telling the stories of Patton, Eisenhower, and Rommel, and he read a selection from Steel Wave. After his talk, he answered questions from audience members.
