In this fictionalized account of D-Day, The Steel Wave: A Novel of World War II, published by Ballantine, historical novelist Jeff Shaara profiled the American and German militaries and depicted the higher ranking officers and the G.I.'s who participated in the battle. Mr. Shaara talked about the book at the Bookworm Store in Omaha, Nebraska, telling the stories of Patton, Eisenhower, and Rommel, and he read a selection from Steel Wave. After his talk, he answered questions from audience members.

Jeff Shaara is the author of several books of historical fiction including Gods and Generals and The Last Full Measure, which completed the Civil War trilogy started by his father, Michael Shaara, with the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Killer Angels. close
