Stijn Claessens presented the findings of an International Monetary Fund study he co-wrote that examined 120 recession episodes in various countries from 1960 to the present. The study found that recessions driven by asset-price bubbles and credit crunches were longer and deeper than other recessions. He was joined in a discussion of his findings by Desmond Lachman and Angel Ubide, moderated by Vincent Reinhart. The panelists responded to questions from members of the audience. close
