The University of Colorado at Denver sponsored a forum on the changing political and social processes in the Soviet Union and Baltic states entitled, “Democracy, Economic Change, and Social Stability.” Participants in the forum discussed the prospects for democracy in the Soviet Union, and the condition of the Soviet Union’s political scene before and after the failed coup by communist hard-liners during August 1991. Portions of the program are in Russian and translated to English. close
