Mr. Thomas, chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, discussed his work at the federal agency overseeing the enforcement of federal regulations barring sex and race discrimination in the workplace. He discussed the record of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Reagan administration in preventing race and sex discrimination in the American workplace. Mr. Thomas was later appointed to the D.C. Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals in 1990, and was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Bush in 1991. close
