Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell (D-ME) addressed the nation to respond to President Bush’s announcement earlier in the evening on the reduction of U.S nuclear arms in Europe and Asia. Sen. Mitchell lauded the reduction in nuclear arms, but stressed the need for increased concern about the American economy. He called on President Bush to turn his attention to domestic matters and cooperate with Congress to alleviate unemployment, the high cost of health care, rebuild the nation’s transportation system, and aid the American educational system. close
