A panel of witnesses from the legal profession opposed the confirmation of Judge Thomas for a variety of reasons including his judicial inexperience. Mr. Olsen, head of the Standing Committee on the Judiciary of the American Bar Association, testified on the ABA’s “qualified” rating for Judge Thomas' suitability for the Supreme Court. The “qualified” rating was the second of three possible ratings by the ABA, the others being “well-qualified” and “unqualified.” close
