Continuing a theme from a speech he presented at the American Bar Association’s annual conference during the summer of 1991, Vice President Dan Quayle called for increased regulation of the legal profession in a speech to the American Business Conference. Vice President Quayle said American competitiveness on the global market was being affected by the high amount of legislation in American courts. He discussed the work of the President’s Council on Competitiveness, and called for regulation on the amount and cost of legislation in the American civil justice system. close
