The subcommittee heard testimony on the financial dealings of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International in the fifth day of hearings on the allegedly corrupt international bank. Witnesses testified on the charges against BCCI, including money laundering for known drug dealers and handling the finances for international terrorists. Chairman Kerry said the subcommittee sought to determine the effect of the BCCI scandal on U.S. foreign policy and on the war on drugs, as well as the extent to which foreign nationals can affect U.S. economic policy.
