A Career in Public Service Sen. Kennedy spoke at the Harvard University Institute of Politics on the civil rights bill compromise reached the previous evening, and the current state of national politics. Sen. Kennedy called for an end to the “arid” state of current debate on political issues, and advocated a tax cut for the middle class paid for by a tax hike on the wealthy. He also said he recognized the faults in the conduct in his private life, and said he would continue to fight for the causes he has worked for in thirty years of public service. close
