The Close Up Foundation traveled to Hamlet, North Carolina where in early September a poultry processing plant caught fire killing 25 employees and injuring many others. Citizens and local and state officials were asked their views on workplace safety. Local reaction concerned with recovery for the victims families and the economic impacts. The Federal response dealt mainly with a review of safety regulations on the state level and complying with OSHA standards with understaffed inspections. close
