DeConcini, member of the Senate Judiciary committee, responded to reporters questions outside the room in which the reopened Supreme Court confirmation hearings for U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Clarence Thomas had recently recessed. He commented on the testimony of Anita Hill, Clarence Thomas' former subordinate at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, who alleged Judge Thomas had sexually harassed her in the mid-1980's. close
