The House Armed Services Committee’s Defense Policy Panel met for the second day to examine future threats to U.S. security in the post-Cold War era. During his testimony, Ambassador Robert Strauss said, “I don’t even know what I’m ambassador TO anymore.” Strauss was concerned about who was really running the disintegrating the nuclear weapons within the crumbling Soviet Union, and who would take control of those weapons. close
