Professor Alvin Rabushka looked at the government’s role in influencing a nation’s economic growth. In his speech entitled, “The Economic History of Prosperity: The Four Asian Tigers,” he examined the contemporary governments of Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and South Korea, and how they have contributed to the success of those lands. His analysis focused on the legal and fiscal structures which exist in those societies, structures he claims are directly responsible for their affluence. close
