The Democratic Policy Committee has been conducting a series of public meetings across the country to examine ways of improving health care in America. The hearing in Warren, MI, was the fourth hearing of the week for the committee, with others having taken place in Tampa, FL, Cleveland, OH, and Atlanta, GA. The Congressional Budget Office reports that between 32 and 37 million Americans have no health insurance. An additional 60 million Americans are “underinsured.” Senator Mitchell is majority leader of the U.S. Senate. Senator Riegle is chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Health for Families and the Uninsured. Senator Levin is chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight of Government Management.
