Fmr. Rep. Jim Wright, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, delivered a lecture on Congress and the Presidency to his political science class in Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. The former 17 term representative reflected upon his own political career during his lectures in the class, which focused upon the president’s relationship with Congress as well as foreign policy and other issues. Fmr. Rep. Wright resigned from the House of Representatives in 1989 after it was alleged he evaded House ethics regulations on outside income through sales of a book he authored, and he received inappropriate contributions from a friend with an interest in legislation. Fmr. Rep. Wright asked questions of and responded to questions from members of the class during the lecture. close
