Bush Campaign Speech President Bush spoke from a stage at Exeter Town Hall at a town meeting held a few weeks before the nation’s first presidential primary in New Hampshire. In his prepared remarks, President Bush lauded New Hampshire’s legislators in Congress, and said he cared about the nation’s economic woes, citing the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s song stating, “if you’re going to see a rainbow, you’ve got to stand a little rain.” He also criticized Congress for favoring quick fixes rather than the comprehensive settlement to be set forth in his State of the Union address. Following his prepared remarks, the president responded to questions from members of the audience. The president also shook hands with members of the audience following the question period. close
