Conventional Arms: Imbalance & Prospects
Senator Timothy Wirth (D-CO) sponsored an annual constituent seminar in Washington D.C. This portion entitled “Conventional Arms Imbalance & Prospects” featured, former U.S. Ambassador to NATO and current president of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, David Abshire. Mr. Abshire spoke about the need for strong alliances and need to reassess the deployment of military forces in Europe to face new threats rather than passed threats. In a second speech U.S. Assistant to the Ambassador of the Soviet Union David Chikvaidze spoke on the current state of Soviet-American relations. Following their comments both men took questions from the audience and also from Sen. Wirth. The program featured an error in the spelling of Mr. Chikvaidze’s name. close
