Rep. McHugh was the chairman of the Ethics Committee task force that examined the overdrafts at the now defunct House bank. He was named to head the task force after the chairman of the Ethics Committee recused himself. It was later disclosed that Rep. Stoke had a large number of overdrafts. Rep. McHugh discussed the operations of the task force and the criteria it used to determine the number and extent of the overdrafts. The task force initially determined that it would release the names of the members who had overdrawn their salary 20 percent of the months in question. The House subsequently voted to release the names and number of overdrafts of all members. The list was released on April 16. close
