Mr. Fauntroy, the chairman of the party’s subcommittee on national development, presents the Jackson position on the issues to be addressed by the party’s platform. Arguing that the U.S. needs a “new direction,” Fauntroy argues that the following items be added to the platform: increased funding for job training, increased funding for education, tax increases for the wealthy, a drug-free enviroment, and the use of public funds for development both abroad and at home. In conclusion, he states that the party must become one of inclusion, not one of exclusion. close
