Republican members of Congress held a news conference outside the U.S. Capitol to criticize Democratic presidential candidate Bill Clinton’s visit to the Capitol Hill earlier in the day. The Republican legislators tied Gov. Clinton to the operations of the Democratic members of the Senate and the House of Representatives. Rep. Richard Armey said statistics from sources other than the Congressional Budget Office showed Republican presidents are “infinitely more fair” than Democratic presidents concerning economic and political affairs. close
