Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev spoke before an audience in the San Francisco Marriot Hotel during one of his stops in his two week speaking tour of the United States. In one of his few speeches open to the general public, President Gorbachev discussed the new relationship between the superpowers that provided for change in the Soviet Union. Following his prepared remarks, President Gorbachev responded to questions from members of the audience. President Gorbachev and his wife Raisa were presented with artwork from painter George Sumner at the close of the question and answer session. close
