Reponsibility to Earth's Environment

Dr. Helen Caldicott, physician and founder of the ethical group Physicians for Social Responsibility, addressed an audience in Berkeley, California, on the drastic necessity to prevent the destruction of the Earth by pollution, political waste, and ecologically harmful lifestyles. Dr. Caldicott, a resident of Australia, criticized Americans for failing to take the Earth’s environment into account when considering their political choices and everyday conduct. She called for a revolution among Americans to restore the importance of the Earth in the nation’s political gaze.
