Joan Claybrook, president of the consumer action group Public Citizen, addressed the Women’s National Democratic Club on the campaign finance reform bill recently vetoed by President Bush, and the proposals for a Constitutional amendment mandating a balanced federal budget. Ms. Claybrook, a longtime advocate of campaign finance reform, entitled her speech “Taking Back Our Government: The Case for Campaign Finance Reform and Against the Balanced Budget Amendment.” Ms. Claybrook responded to written questions from the audience following her prepared remarks. close
