After remarks by Naval Academy Commandant Admiral Lynch, the President was introduced by Secretary of the Navy Lawrence Garrett III. President George H. W. Bush, the keynote speaker at the U.S. Naval Academy’s 1992 commencement exercises. President Bush spoke to the assembled graduating midshipmen on the preservation of freedom and keeping the peace in the contemporary world. He noted the vast changes in the global political scene in the previous decade and called on the graduates to continue the fight for democracy in countries around the world. close
