Following a performance by the flag-twirling Rangerettes and an introduction from Senator Phil Gramm (R-TX), President George H.W. Bush spoke before a crowd of Republicans at a fundraising dinner in Dallas, Texas. Speaking from a podium in front of a huge banner reading Texas Victory '92, the president lauded improvements that occurred during the Bush administration that contributed to the well-being of Americans but were not reported by “gloom and doom” television. He called for the passage of a number of the administration’s bills before Congress, including a capital gains tax cut and a balanced budget amendment. close
