President Bush and Russian President Yeltsin addressed the U.S.-Russia Business Summit in the Marriot Hotel in Washington, DC, to laud the new era of economic cooperation between the U.S. and Russia. President Bush, speaking before President Yeltsin, praised the goals of the summit, which brought together U.S. and Russian business executives to spur investment in Russia. He also advocated passage of the Freedom Support Act. This legislation would provide economic aid to Russia. President Yeltsin said the reduction in the nuclear arsenals of the U.S. and Russia, announced the previous day, expressed the new level of confidence between the U.S. and Russia created in the past few months.
