Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) answered reporter’s questions and then gave a speech in preparation for the Iowa caucuses scheduled for the following day. He talked about such issues as racism and President Bush’s civil rights record. The third Brown and Black Presidential Forum was held at the Community Hall in Des Moines. Senator Harkin was the only participant. No other candidates participated because Senator Harkin was an Iowa “Favorite Son” candidate. close
