President H.W. Bush signed the Higher Education Act, a law that extends and revises federal support for higher education programs including student financial assistance. The new law will provide more assistance for middle income families to pay for college costs. Mr. Bush commended Congress for their non-partisan efforts to produce the Higher Education Act. He also stressed the importance of the act and education in general. close
