Members of a delegation from Iraq in opposition to the regime of Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein spoke in a news conference in the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace on the political situation in Iraq. The delegation was in Washington, DC, to meet with the U.S. Secretary of State. Earlier in the day, an Iraqi opposition leader in the Middle East had called for permanent U.N. observers in Iraq to document the treatment of the religious minority in Southern Iraq. close
