Harry Wu, executive director of the Laogai Research Foundation, talked about his meeting (along with other advocates) with President Bush this week concerning China’s record on human rights. He also responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. Wu was a former labor camp prisoner in China ("Laogai" in Chinese means “Bamboo Gulag,” hence the name of the organization). The Chinese government condemned the meeting between President Bush and the advocates. close
