A panel discussion was held titled “Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan: U.S. Foreign Policy Challenges This Fall and Beyond.” After their opening remarks and initial discussion, the panelists responded to audience members' questions. Michael O’Hanlon moderated.

Kenneth Pollack is the author of A Path Out of the Desert: A Grand Strategy for America in the Middle East published by Random House. Bruce Riedel is the author of The Search for al Qaeda: Its Leadership, Ideology, and Future, to be released by Brookings Institution Press later in the year. Jeremy Shapiro is the primary researcher on Brookings' Afghanistan Index, a detailed examination of the NATO mission in that country. Michael O’Hanlon assists with that project. close
