Joe Gaylord, the strategist for the 1994 Republican majority in Congress, talked about managing political campaigns. In his remarks Mr. Gaylord said that the five challenges

of any campaign are finding a viable candidate, organization, adequate finance, a

credible contrast between the candidate and the opponent, and a strong base of support, and that leadership and management skills are required to meet those challenges. He responded to questions from the audience.

“Principles of Management” was a session at the first annual GOPAC State and Local Summit held at the Marriott Key Bridge in Arlington, Virginia. The objective of the summit was to provide tools, techniques, and talking points for state legislative campaigns for the 2008 election. close
