Governor Pawlenty talked about the need for the Republican Party to address the concerns of socially-conservative Republicans of modest means in order to achieve electoral success. He responded to questions submitted by members of the audience.

This voter group has been called “Sam’s Club Republicans” since Governor Pawlenty said in 2002 that Republicans needed “to be the party of Sam’s Club, not just the country club.” Governor Pawlenty, whose state will host the Republican convention in the next month, recently completed his term as chair of the National Governor’s Association. close
