Federal Communications Commission Chairman Kevin Martin and others talked about the digital television transition for broadcasters in the five-county Wilmington, North Carolina, television market. Wilmington’s five commercial broadcast television stations became the first in the country to switch from analog to all-digital signals. Participants marked the occasion with a countdown and by symbolically flipping a large electrical switch as the transition took place at noon.
