As the nation observes the anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon, Representative Bennie Thompson talked about how safe the country is seven years later and responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. He also taked about a report by staffs of two congressional committees on U.S. progress on security in airlines, railways, ports, borders, emergency response ability and other areas since 9/11. The report was issued this week by the majority staffs of the House Homeland Security and Foreign Affairs committees. Its title is “Wasted Lessons of 9/11: How the Bush Administration Has Ignored the Law and Squandered Its Opportunities to make our Country Safer.” close
