Kevin Mattson talked about about his book Rebels All!: A Short History of the Conservative Mind in Postwar America (Rutgers University Press; July 30, 2008). He contends that the political right co-opted the radicalism of the 1960's in fusing a new brand of conservatism. Mr. Mattson is critical of conservatives, who he argues have cast themselves as perpetual underdogs and populists, which are two labels that he deems contradictory to the truth. He responded to audience members' questions following his presentation.
Kevin Mattson is a contemporary history professor at Ohio University. He is the author of several books, including Upton Sinclair and the Other American Century. close
