Marian Wright Edelman talked about her book The Sea Is So Wide and My Boat Is So Small: Charting a Course for the Next Generation Hyperion; September 23, 2008). In her book she presents her thoughts on the current and future state of the care of children and addresses the problems that she contends continue to harm the development of America’s children. The guest interviewer was Geoffrey Canada.

Marian Wright Edelman is the founder and president of the Children’s Defense Fund. She has received several awards for her work, including the Albert Schweitzer Humanitarian Award, a MacArthur Fellowship, and a Presidential Medal of Freedom. Ms. Edelman is the author of several books, including The Measure of Our Success: A Letter to My Children and Yours.

Geoffrey Canada is the president and chief executive office of the Harlem’s Children’s Zone. He has received several awards for his work, including the McGraw Prize for Education, Jefferson Award for Public Service, and Heinz Award close
