James Lockhart spoke by live remote from New York City about the stability of the mortgage finance system, the federal takeover of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and regulation of the housing finance industry after the previous month’s shakeup of the mortgage and banking sectors. Mr. Lockhart is the regulator of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the 12 federal Home Loan Banks as well as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (OFHEO.)
