Meg Burns talked about new provisions in the Federal Markets Law that apply to helping to prevent foreclosures. The law calls for federal property managers to encourage mortgage servicers to create a plan to help distressed homeowners. Ms. Burns also responded to telephone calls and electronic email and discussed the role that the federal “Hope for Homeowners” program plays in preventing foreclosures. (The program launched on October 1, 2008, and was established by the Housing and Economic Recovery Act earlier in the year). close
